Luxury operator Asilia Africa will open an intimate safari camp on the banks of the Mwagusi River in Tanzania's Ruaha National Park this July. Kokoko Camp comprises just three tents and provides an exclusive-use experience for up to six guests hosted by a top Asilia guide.

The camp will blend into the landscape with a minimalist design that puts the focus on the surrounding wilderness. The three spacious tents will feature ensuite bathrooms and covers that can be folded back at night for maximum stargazing possibilities.

The aim of the camp is to offer an immersive, back-to-basics safari experience. Travelers can enjoy exploratory walking safaris, game drives and night drives, stargazing and dinners surrounded by lanterns in the riverbed. The remote location means activities are tailored to the guests' interests each day. Limited WiFi keeps the focus on disconnecting from daily life.

Kokoko Camp will close annually from November to June during the rainy season when wildlife disperses. It then reopens for the July-October dry season when animal sightings concentrate along the river. The camp is a 45-minute drive from Msembe Airstrip with transfers from Dar es Salaam taking under 2 hours.
