Three attractions geared toward young cruisers that were planned for the Sun Princess will not come to fruition, said Princess Cruises.
The line's first Sphere-class ship has been in service since Feb. 28.
The Sun Princess won't have the RollGlider, a zipline-like attraction with an overhead track. Guests were to be seated and harnessed for an 11 mph ride. During a March sailing, a spokeswoman said the attraction was expected to open by April 27.
The Coastal Climb also will not open. The climbing structure would have enabled guests to climb from decks 19 to 20 through various obstacles and take in views before sliding back to the bottom. In addition, the ropes course will not open.
The attractions were supposed to be in Park19, Sun Princess' three-deck activity zone. Prior to the Sun Princess' debut, Princess had touted Park19 as an area of the ship that would offer activities for guests of all ages, bringing together multigenerational families.
Princess declined to explain why the attractions won't be installed except to say it was unable to accept delivery of them.
The line's second Sphere-class ship, Star Princess, is due to be delivered in September 2025. Princess is undecided what will replace the family-oriented attractions on the Sun and Star.
